Practicing Drama?
As a kid, my parents were always on me about practicing. 🎻
It was such a negative thing. 🙃
They wanted me to practice. 🎺
But I wanted to go outside and have some serious fun playing baseball or football or whatever game was happening in our big green side yard with the neighborhood kids… 🏃♀️➡️
Yup, I’m a tomboy!
My parents would always be like: Did you play cello yet? You have to practice… and then I was looked down upon in some kind of way if the answer was no…👎
And then in college, when I was studying with Hans Jorgen Jensen… when I was leaving my lesson he would always say: You have to play cello a lot this week. You have to practice! 👆
And again… I felt like I was being judged if I didn’t practice…like…what…all the time?
We can never practice enough, right? 🤷♀️
That’s why I am on it with myself, like all the time.
And I keep coming back…because in the end…it’s the skill of showing up regularly that will make us better cellists and musicians…not practicing all the time.
No one can practice all the time.
Certainly not you.
Certainly not me.
But we can show up for ourselves…over and over…💃
And there’s the gold… 🏆
And so, in order to help us all show up for ourselves musically…
