Playing Josephin's Waltz with Pooh S., the Brussels sprouts farmer from Owosso, MI. Pooh started off her cello improv journey in a Cello Guru Celtic Bootcamp!
For advanced beginner and intermediate level cellists who are ready to try something different in order to play better cello...finally!
☘️ In the Scottish Cello Bootcamp we will be working on:
☘️ When you work on these slowly, in clear steps, you will gain not only cello technique, but also confidence in your playing.
☘️ That's what you get in the Scottish Cello Bootcamp, in just 23 minutes a day

🎻 Daily classical technique: How to sound better on the cello working through the basics like healthy bow arm technique and body positioning for rich sound and left hand shape for purity of pitch using basic exercises that everyone will be able to do.
🌹 Basic tools to help you sound better in all your music
🎻 Daily music theory and improvisation technique: How to figure out the key, what it means, how to build basic bass lines and arpeggios and ornament your song so that it becomes your own fun version.
🔥 With this work, you will be saying "I didn't know I could improvise, but I just did..."
The Music
🏆 You'll learn a basic version of Loch Lomond—a lovely Scottish ballad that's the perfect vehicle for technique, theory, and improvisation.
😎 It works beautifully with a student friendly Cello Guru chord chart in a cello friendly key—G Major—which means that instead of battling difficult musical passages your brain can focus on new skills and really start to implement them.
✅ Feel alone in your playing and want to play for others—but you lack the confidence
✅ Want to join a group to find connection—but you're afraid you're not good enough
✅ Wonder if you'll ever sound beautiful enough that people will actually want to listen
✅ Wonder how in the heck you can get better when you feel stuck
✅ Feel stuck in your classical Suzuki book—the pieces keep getting harder, but you don't sound good on the ones you're playing yet
You're not alone.
And you're closer than you think. 🏃♀️➡️
This bootcamp is for adult cellists who:
✅ Feel frustrated that they don't sound better yet
✅ Want a gentler, smarter way to strengthen basic skills
✅ Want music theory and improvisation explained clearly (101 level)
✅ Enjoy learning through playing beautiful music
✅ Want encouragement, creativity, and connection
💁♀️ "Will I ever learn to play cello beautifully?"
💁♀️ "Will I ever be able to play so that people actually want to listen?"
💁♀️ "Will I ever be able to have some fun again while playing the cello?"
💁♀️ "Will I ever be able to understand music theory?"
💁♀️ "When am I going to get the confidence to play with others?"
Have no fear...the Scottish Cello Bootcamp will give you the tools you need to make it happen.
Most bootcamps throw information at you and hope something sticks. 🤞
This one is different. 🌈
✅ Student friendly Cello Guru chord charts in cello friendly keys—so you're set up to succeed from the start
✅ Clear structure so you know exactly what you're building each day
✅ Guided practice in My Turn Your Turn Format so you're not guessing—you know exactly what you are supposed to be playing while imitating a master cellist
✅ Real community with other adult cellists who get it
And it's taught by someone who's played on NYC streets to pay rent, performed over 600 shows with Cirque du Soleil, and holds advanced degrees in both classical cello and jazz improvisation. 💃
I know both worlds.
And I know how to help you bridge them. 🌹
You need a map, a guide, and a community to work beside. 👯♀️
That’s exactly what this bootcamp will give you.
Free. 3 days. 23 minutes per day.

☘️ "Marcie is an incredibly hardworking teacher and personal coach. She gets that at this point the biggest challenge for most of us is self confidence. She is a cheerleader, and she helps to elevate a whole group of cellists who have felt a bit less than. As a group we remember the c# that was flat instead of the fact that we brought joy to others and to ourselves. The Cello Guru is helping us rethink the perfectionism that a classical training has hammered into us. Thanks so much!"

☘️ Improv on the cello? It's super important. It allows you to join any combo or jazz ensemble to jam."

This bootcamp is designed for advanced beginner to intermediate cellists. If you can play at least three scales starting on open strings (C Major, G Major, D Major) and simple melodies, you're ready. But everyone is welcome to join. You will be on mute, so you won't slow us down.
Probably. That's the first step of learning a new language. Are you willing to go through that to get to the gold? 😎
Sure. This class is geared towards those with not much experience in theory or improvisation. So it's going to be 101 level theory explained clearly, and applied immediately. 🐢
Every session is recorded and available for replay. But the live sessions are where the magic happens—so if you can be there, be there.
No catch. This is a free bootcamp. On Day 3, I'll tell you about Total Cello Immersion (my 6-month program for students who want to go deeper).
But there's zero pressure. Come, learn, play. That's it. 🎻
Let's Go. 🪂

P.S. If you've been waiting for an opportunity to sound better, have fun, and finally understand what you're playing...this is it! See you March 23rd. 🎻
Dr. Martin Picard, specialist in human behavior, biology and neuroscience from Columbia University tells us that the best way to strengthen our mitochondria and slow aging is by learning a new language. 🤔
For cellists...learning a new language can be...improvisation. 💃
If you are an advanced beginner or an intermediate level cellist, you already have the skills needed to get started on your new language.
Slow down aging, strengthen your brain and have some fun while you are at it at the Scottish Cello Bootcamp. ☘️
