Maybe you have tried to play beautiful musical phrases but it always seems to fall flat and so you just give up.
Playing beautiful musical lines can be very challenging, so it makes sense that you might be having trouble finding and maintaining legato phrasing that makes you feel like you are being expressive...
Lots of cellists think that you just play the notes...and that that's the end of it. But that's a thought error. There are some basic tools we can work on to help you to achieve fluid string crossings, legato phrasings and musical movement that will help you to create a lovely singing rendition of these three must know Cello Compositions that everyone should be playing....and we will be getting into those tools in this October Cello BootCamp.
Learn the single most important secret to playing in tune that most cellists don't know...and finally get a grasp on the correct tuning that will make your sound ring.
Learn the basic elements for a deep and soulful sound.
Learn the steps that go into making a fluid and legato rendition of these lovely cello compositions that every cellist should learn.
In this camp Cello Guru Marcie Brown will define and explore the many difficulties that arise when we try to play beautifully. We will identify the basic steps that you need to understand and implement in order to shape musical phrases and sing with fluidity in your cello playing.
To give the students a head start, we are going to send out the pdf's for the class a week before it runs. We will also be using exercises and etudes that will help in our pursuit for beautiful clean playing and musical excellence.
This class is for anyone interested in learning to play the Three Most Beautiful Cello Compositions. It's best suited for intermediate level players that have some knowledge of the first four positions on the cello and the Suzuki books 1-4. That being said, students of all levels are invited. Beginners can get started with the concepts that will shape your technique, and those with more experience can go deeper into their study.
The format is three live 50 minute zoom classes at 11am PDT Monday-Wed,
October 28th-30th.
All classes will be available to watch on the replay page for 12 months.

In these classes we will be working on smooth shifting, beautiful musical phrasing and soulful sound...will work through exercises that will help you with musicality, string cross, pitch and agility. You may be playing along but you will not be heard for these weekday classes. Phew!
We will be working through problem segments of these Cello Pieces that you will want to add to your repertoire. We will analyze them and figure out how to play them beautifully with fluidity and precision.
As a part of the series you will get the Cello Guru student friendly PDF's for the pieces and the exercises we will be working on. Let's go!
As we work on our phrasing and musicality, we will study the concepts that will make us feel better and play better as cellists. In order to play beautifully, we want to come up with the thoughts that will allow us to do that and identify and eliminate the pesky self limiting beliefs that are getting in our way.
-How to shift with more accuracy
-How to coordinate the left hand with the right to get clean musical lines
-How to find confidence in your playing so that you are ready to play these three beautiful pieces of cello repertoire for friends and family.
Yesss!
When you sign up today you will not only get the Early Bird Rate of $97, but also, you will get the student friendly Cello Guru edition of the beautiful Titantic love song My Heart Will Go On.

SPEED WEEK CELLO BOOTCAMP- April, 2024
"Speed week was amazing! To have all the essentials for scale and arpeggio speed work assembled in one place plus taught in a challenging yet accessible way was so worth attending. The manner in which you taught Speed Week made it not only accessible to all levels, but provided a roadmap to use in solo practice. I especially appreciate the replay recordings because I was not able to attend all workshops in person. Many thanks to you for the effort, hard work and love you to put into this program!"
-Peggy M.; Madison, WI
"I enjoyed, and benefitted from Speed Week very much! Your lessons were well planned, and the pace was lively and kept me involved. Your presentation helped me understand how finger exercises and scale practice can be a staple in building skills I need to perform the music I take on. Your class gave me a "road map" to follow on my journey to take on the faster passages I meet along the way. Merci, Marcie!"
-Jane G.; San Jose, CA
"I've really been enjoying Speed Cello Bootcamp. Not only am I getting faster, but I'm also finding other things to work on as I go through the exercises..
Thank you again...It has all been very helpful..."
-William K., Boston, MA
"Marcie is an incredibly hardworking teacher and personal coach. She gets that at this point the biggest challenge for most of us is self confidence. She is a cheerleader, and she helps to elevate a whole group of cellists who have felt a bit less than. As a group we remember the c# that was flat instead of the fact that we brought joy to others and to ourselves. The Cello Guru is helping us rethink the perfectionism that a classical training has hammered into us. Thanks so much!"
-Peg T., Duluth, Minnesota
