Honestly, I never would have thought I would be playing like this from where I started, but between her teaching and hard work I am looking forward to see how far I can take this beautiful instrument.

Maybe you thought you were too old to excel at this lovely instrument that we play.
Maybe someone told you that you didn't have what it takes, or that you sounded crummy, and you believed them.
Well I'm here to offer another idea.
What if you not being able to play like you want to has nothing to do with your age?
When I was eighteen, I went to college. I surrounded myself with cello 24/7. I had private instruction, classes, and tons of cellists around me every day to help me improve and to make sure I was bound to get good.
It's pretty near impossible to get good on this instrument with one lesson per week, and then the next six days you spend reinforcing bad habits.
What if you just need to surround yourself with an environment like the one we have in college?
What if that's the ticket right there to learning to excel on the instrument?
Well, the Cello Guru has created a Cello University for adults so they can find an environment that is totally immersive in cello study, and so they can become badass musicians, no matter their age or their circumstance in life.
It's called Total Cello Immersion.
If you are an adult who wants to be able to sing on the cello but you just think it's not possible, think again, my friend.
TCI students are finding their highest musical selves every day, learning to sound beautiful in playing the music they love with confidence and consistency so that people will really want to hear them play.

I'm Marcie Brown, and I'm the Cello Guru.
I help adult cellists become badass musicians by filling in the blanks of their musical education so that they can play with consistency, confidence and abandon.
Who would have thought that at my age, (somewhere beyond fifty…), that I would be playing the best cello of my life?
Think about it- gymnasts and figure skaters peak in their teens, and baseball and football players peak in their twenties.
Singers usually peak in their thirties and forties.
But for me, that hasn’t been the case.
I’m playing the best cello of my life right now.
My technique is the sharpest it has ever been.
My musicality is over the moon.
I can skillfully play pieces that I could not come near in my twenties and thirties.

Growing up...
I am the youngest daughter of an orchestra director, so the passion and drive to learn to play the cello came naturally for me.
When I was eighteen, I had a burning desire to learn to play the cello.
I auditioned for the University of Arizona Music Program.
I didn't play that great, so I was happily surprised when I was offered a scholarship to attend.
Many years later my mentor, Dr. Gordon Epperson told me, "Well, I guess I saw something in you..."
Dr. Epperson held a Wednesday afternoon cello class.
There were 27 cello majors, and each week we would play for each other and be coached by the good doctor.
This was inspiring and exciting, and It was here that my cello foundation was formed.
In this kind of an environment, one can grow and become a musician.
That's what happened to me.
