Maybe you have tried to play faster but you don't know how and so you just gave up.
Playing fast passages at fast tempos can be very challenging, so it makes sense that you might be having trouble finding and maintaining a faster tempo in your music.
Lots of cellists think that they just can't play fast...but that's just a lie. There are some basic things that need to be put into place before you even try to work on your speed...and we will be getting into those things in the SPEED CAMP.
What is the basic hand shape that you need to develop in order to play efficiently?
How do you check your pitch to set yourself up for success before you work your speed?
What is the basic hand position and the elbow plan that you need to understand for the left hand and fingers to be able to move quickly?
In this camp Cello Guru Marcie Brown will define and explore the many difficulties that arise with trying to play fast. We will identify the basic steps that you need to understand and implement in order to find a faster tempo in your cello playing.
To give the students a head start, we are going to use some of the beloved fast passages from your Suzuki pieces that you are most likely already familiar with. ANd we will also be throwing in exercises and etudes that will help in our pursuit for clean playing and musical excellence.
This class is for anyone interested in finding and maintaining speed in our cello playing. It's best suited for intermediate level players that have some knowledge of the first four positions on the cello and the Suzuki books 1-4. That being said, students of all levels are invited. Beginners can get started with the concepts that will shape your technique, and those with more experience can go deeper into their study.
The format is five live 50 minute zoom classes at 11am PST Monday-Friday,
April 22nd-26th.
All classes will be available to watch on the replay page for 12 months.

This is an online event on zoom.
Classes daily for five days where you will work through exercises that will help you with posture, pitch and agility. You may be playing along but you will not be heard for these weekday classes. Phew!
We will be working through problem segments of the Suzuki pieces that you have most likely worked on in your cello career. We will analyze them and figure out how to play them well and how to speed them up with fluidity and precision.
As a part of the series you will get the Cello Guru student friendly PDF's for the pieces and the exercises we will be working on. Let's go!
As we work on our speed, we will study the concepts that will make us feel better and play better as cellists. In order to fly like the wind, we want to come up with the thoughts that will allow us to do that and identify and eliminate the pesky self limiting beliefs that are getting in our way.
-How to get set up for speed well before you are tying to play fast.
-How to coordinate the left hand with the right to get clean musical lines as you speed up gradually.
-How to find confidence in your playing so that you are ready to play the faster, lighter sections of your music with friends and family.
Finally!
