You can play the notes pretty well. You know where your fingers are supposed to go. You can even get through Bach's Arioso start to finish without stopping much...
So why doesn't it sing yet?
Your bow arm tenses up right when the sound needs to soar.
You're wondering..."How the heck?..."
It's a shifting problem.
It's a bow mapping problem.
It's a "nobody ever taught me how to practice for consistency" problem.
And it's fixable in a way that's pretty fun to discover.
Let's work it out together...
We are going to work on all of those things in the Arioso Cello Bootcamp...

In this camp Cello Guru Marcie Brown will explore the difficulties that arise with the playing of three lovely Bach pieces: Arioso, Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring and Ave Maria.
We will work through the bow technique, shifting skills and vibrato coloring needed in order to make long beautiful musical phrasings that sing...
This class is for anyone interested in working the basics of Bach on the cello. It's best suited for intermediate level players that have some knowledge of the first four positions on the cello. If that's you...read on!

Play along on your cello...you won't be heard! But you will be able to absorb the lessons like a sponge from the comfort of your own practice space.
In case you can't make it live, you can play along with the replays on your own time, so you won't miss anything!
We cater to adult amateurs, so our fingerings and bowings are student friendly and designed to make it easier for the learner.
Same time on Thursday and Friday. For more fun and more learning.
Qualify for a free Friday private lesson by attending four classes Monday-Thursday. Then sign up for your Friday lesson time.
When you hang out with other like minded cello students who have similar goals, you always learn more than when you are just taking private lessons. The community is gold!
You have some experience playing Arioso, and you can play some in 1st through 4th positions on your cello. It doesn't need to be perfect! You just need to have some knowledge of those positions and knowledge of the piece. We will work on the rest!

This bootcamp isn't about learning Arioso from scratch...it's for cellists who've already spent some time with it. We're working on the problems that show up once you know the piece: sound, shifting, awkward string crossings, the stuff that keeps it from actually singing. That's exactly what we're going for.
You totally can! And you'll get the exact same result you're getting right now playing on your own. But the insight of a coach trained specifically in cello technique is invaluable...it'll change the entire way you play and hand you ideas you'd have never come up with by yourself. You'll get there quicker learning from a professional!
Great! This Bach Bootcamp is an addition to your private lessons. we will work on all the things that will help you to sound great when you get to your lesson...
You don't need to be techie. All you need is a computer and your cello to succeed in the Bach Arioso Cello Bootcamp.
Yes. Each class will be added to the Materials/Replay Page within 48 hours of the class, so you won't miss out.
Get over it! Bach Bootcamps are safe spaces for adult cellists to learn. If you're an adult with a cello, working on making beautiful music...you're a cellist.
Playing out of tune. Missing shifts. Playing with an unpleasant, scratchy sound. These problems get worse the more you keep recreating them. We need to get on it right now to start producing better musical results. Every week you put off finding great cello expertise will just land you further away from producing the sounds you actually want to create. Let's fix it now, while it's fixable, and before it actually gets worse...
As cellists, Bach is our hero. I want every cellist to know his work and to be playing his music on the cello. At $97, the price is right for most cellists around the world. Price should never stand between you and Bach.
