The classical coaching is for cellists who already have at least three two octave scales in your repertoire. We will hone your skills by working through pieces that are appropriate for your level from the Suzuki repertoire books. Listening to the pieces will help you to learn much faster. We will supplement your musical education with scales and arpeggios and maybe throw some Celtic or Irish pieces in to the mix, if you are game for that. Or not. It's up to you. Let's get to it, classical cellists. I can take you to the next level.
The improvisation coaching is for cellists who have at least three two octave scales in your repertoire. If you want to learn to play jazz standards on the cello, you can do it here. I can help you to develop the skills, through scales and arpeggios and some knowledge of theory, to play bass lines and to make up your own parts over chord charts. Here's where the fun begins. Soon you will start to feel free, like you have grown some wings! You will be able to play with friends and in bands as well. Make sure to check out my Six Steps to Jazz Cello Series on the shop page and also on the book a lesson page. There you can see all the different musical options that are available for you to choose from. Can't wait to get you started. Let's do this, courageous cellists!
The Bach Suites
Music Theory on the Cello
On this site you can find opportunity.
But you have to be open to it.
Do you want to learn to play different kinds of music on your cello, but you hesitate because you think it's too hard?
I'm here to tell you that your dreams are possible.
It doesn't matter that it's hard.
You can do hard things.
Creating success is always hard.
Let it be hard.
Plan on it.
When we do hard things, we become stronger.
When we feel uncomfortable, then we know we are getting somewhere.
Hard is not a reason not to do something.
It's the exact reason to do something.
Just show up.
Work at it.
Let's do this!
Are you ready?*
